If you are planning to visit Mallorca soon, keep reading. Because below, we will tell you about some wonderful routes for hiking in Majorca.

Best places to go hiking in Majorca in 2022

When it comes to hiking trails, Majorca is famous not only in Spain but also in the whole world. Here are some of the best-rated hiking routes in Majorca you can visit this year. Knowing these trails will help your planning be a smooth affair.

1. Alaró Castle

Atop Puig d’ Alaró mountain, you will be able to find the ruins of the Alaró Castle. Steep cliffs surround the site, and a castle is known to have existed here since the Moorish times. The latest incarnation of the castle is from the 15th century.

Interestingly, the castle almost covers the entire mountaintop. The 5.3-kilometer-long trail from the castle to the town of Alaró is of moderate difficulty and takes about 2 hours to complete. While walking on this trail and going upwards, you will witness the plains of Majorca towards Palma, as well as the ocean.

The surroundings are extremely scenic, and you will get a great view from the top. If you are someone who doesn’t like big crowds, we advise you to avoid weekends if possible. Needless to say, the weekends are the busiest times here, and there will be no chance to enjoy the tranquility of the castle during these days. So plan your hike on any of the weekdays.

2. Barranc de Biniaraix

The island of Mallorca is filled with rugged gorges that make amazing hiking trails. Not only they are easy to follow, but they also consist of panoramic beauty that enchants the hikers. Among these trails, Barranc de Biniaraix is a great choice for its easiness.

The route begins from Biniaraix, just outside the beautiful Sóller town, and follows a loop around the gorge. The length of the trail is about 5 kilometers, and it will take approximately 4 hours to complete. For your information, if this route seems a bit too much for you to handle, there are a few shorter routes.

The tranquil rural environment combined with the beautiful panorama that the Tramuntana Mountains provide is enough to give you a walking experience that is impossible to forget. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that this experience is purely Majorcan and feels unbelievably authentic. Plus, the various available routes make it possible for hikers to come back to this circuit over and over again.

3. Colonia Sant Pere – Es Caló de Betlem

If you go to the eastern side of Majorca, you will find the tiny town of Colonia Sant Pere. And not too far away, there is the tinier village of Betlem. In case you were unaware, Betlem is the gateway to one of the most serene, scenic sea beaches in all of Majorca.

As a hiker, you will begin your walk from Colonia Sant Pere. And, after walking for about an hour on the 3-kilometer-long trail through pine forests, you would reach your destination – Betlem. Here situates an extremely remote cove named Es Caló de Betlem.

The remoteness of the cove is well-evident in the fact that when you reach the endpoint, you might be the only person standing there. Well, that is if there are not any rock climbers there, as it is an ideal location for rock climbing too. The serene view of the mountains and the gin-clear waters here will surely make the journey feel worthwhile.

Conclusion

As you can see, if you are striving for some adventure, Majorca is the place to be. When you are in Mallorca, one thing is sure. You would never run out of wonderful hiking trails to explore. So what are you waiting for? In this piece, we informed you about some top routes for hiking in Majorca. Visit them as soon as possible and have a delightful hiking experience that will stay with you forever. Bon, voyage!
